DESCRIPTION:Intro to Spar Making\n\nEver wondered how thatched roofs are he
 ld in place? Would you like to learn about the intrinsic link between anci
 ent hazel coppices and thatching? Would you like to learn the basics of ma
 king thatching spars? If so\, this course is for you.\n\n•We'll firstly 
 look at selecting useable hazel and cutting them to lengths (known as 'gad
 s').\n\n•We'll explore the the terminology used in spar making.\n\n•Th
 en we'll split some gads\, point them\, and turn them into useable thatchi
 ng spars\n\nAll materials and tools will be supplied\, but do bring your o
 wn spar or hook or billhook if you have one. Also\, please bring a pair of
  work gloves and a knee pad (if you have one).\n\nThe cost of the day is 
 £50 per person. The day will start at 10.30 &amp\; finish around 3.30 in 
 the afternoon.?\n\n
