Welcome to Dorset Coppice Group

Dorset Coppice Group was established in 1999 by a number of Dorset woodsfolk who came together to form a local group in order to promote coppicing and its products and services. Over the years the Group has grown into a thriving community of people interested in preserving and maintaining our native woodlands.  Whilst professional coppice workers still form the mainstay of the group, our members now range from charcoal burners to bushcrafters, wildlife artists to woodturners, toddlers to woodland veterans!  We are open to all who share our passion for woodlands and woodland crafts.

We exist to promote the coppice industry within Dorset and are an Affiliated Group to the National Coppice Federation. Coppicing, as a woodland management technique, provides multiple benefits to biodiversity, as well as providing sustainable livelihoods for coppice workers and craftspeople. Coppice products are highly sought after by a range of customers & industries; from thatchers to hedgelayers, low impact builders to artists.

Why not join us, play your part in preserving our woodlands and learn more about this ancient and sustainable woodland management technique…
